Hi, my name is Barbara... I have been creative designing for many years. I often immerse myself in things like crochet, quilting, and crafting. Everything I do makes me eager to learn or I teach myself, and I love every moment. If you have ever been on the wild side of creativity with me, then you know what I'm talking about.
Sharing my creative side!
My interest in crafts or anything creative started while I was young. When I was about 16 years old, I would often visit with my Grandmother at her house. It was there that she would spend hours showing me how to crochet or sew. She was an avid crocheter who made afghans in her sleep. I still have my very first Granny Square that she helped me make! It's so very special to me that each time I pick up yarn or the crochet hook she gave me, it reminds me of the wonderful moments that I had with her so many years ago.
It was not until a handful of years later that I decided to take quilting lessons and work more on my crochet styles. In the meantime, while employed and planning my own wedding, I became computer savvy while certifying as a PC Specialist. During that time, I discovered my creative streak in many areas that include graphic design, web design, forum structuring, code building, and so much more. I've have used my creative talents in all areas of my life where family events are concerned, business adventures I've had that include time as an Avon rep, and a Security Communications Officer position that I held for about nine years. Most of all that came before my children were born. And I had been a stay at home mom through much of this in continuation as well until they graduated from high school. In recent years, I have learned the craft of die-cutting which allows me to custom design multi-layered projects and hand piece my creations.
How I decided to get into candy wrapping...
Years ago before getting married, I worked for a local chocolatier in the production area where I learned how to make gift baskets, and worked on custom wedding orders, some including corporate designs. It was my experience there that gave me the extra tools and interest to do some of these things for myself on a different level. I began making custom wrapped candy bar favors for friends, family and my own events after I discovered an elite candy wrapper forum that I am still proud to be part of some fifteen years later.
Over the course of these years I have taught myself how to design and create my own digital images using fonts, layers, effects, templates and the best courtesy shareware/royalty free graphics. I am by far not an expert, however I prefer the art of imagination, and thus put hard work and extra effort into everything that I design. Although I still consider myself an amateur, my need to learn more and build on my ideas is part of who I am. That is where I take the individual's ideas and while including my own vision, how I come up with a custom design that is unique like no other. The wild side of creativity is knowing that the possibilities are endless!
Some little known facts about me:
Overall, I enjoy what I do and so wish to continue doing things that bring joy to myself and others. This has been a very adventurous hobby, just creating in my spare time. And I am hoping that branching out with others provides even more opportunities for me to grow and learn as a person.
- As an Avon representative, I would make and donate gift baskets to local charities on a yearly basis.
- Coordinated a teddy bear fundraiser for our nearby children's pediatric hospital with the help of our local emergency medical services unit.
